Hovercraft by Johnny Depp

In college I had a band, and the band was called Johnny Depp. We recorded "Hovercraft" in 2003-4 and mixed it ourselves, with the help of a local legend named Fritz. Then we designed the packaging and produced all 250 or so copies. It was a lot of work, and it shows; the thing is gorgeous. There's a booklet to look through while you listen to the music, which is instrumental so it won't distract you from the imagery. It's upbeat, too, though, so won't put you to sleep. Although a "fan" once told us at a show that he liked to listen to the album at night before bed. Each his own, we said. It's a good album. The CD was released in 2005 and sold about 120 copies, so there's still one with your name on it. This is true indie rock, here, too; we're not associated with any label or distributor or anything, and aside from some airtime on the college radio station, we were and are almost completely under the radar. Impress your friends by bringing up Johnny Depp and when they act all in-the-know, be like, No. The band.
